Temporary exhibition ‘Organize the museum. Imagine the museum’ for the opening of the new Silesian Museum in Katowice showed its history – the facts and parallel fictitious narratives. Fabricated plots were located inside fictional histories of Poland and the whole world, another geopolitical realities and realms beyond Anthropocene.
Fictional narratives were imagined by Artur Pałyga, an esteemed Polish playwright, with BUDCUD providing spatial frame for the stories told with various texts and exhibits. What was characteristic for the design scheme is that the spatial arrangement came before the detailed curatorial scenario. Therefore, the exhibition space was designed as a matrix of systematic elements forming loops on orthogonal grid.
The facts were displayed on the outside wall of the exhibition room with the fabled stories getting more abstract and speculative towards the central space. The order of the plot elements became only a suggestion – a visitor could mix them so that the history of Silesia Museum was multiplied until infinity.
