A new housing estate in Tczew is an example of a contemporary neighborhood inspired by local architecture and sustainable development principles. The composition of the estate is formed by two types of multifamily buildings oriented to the central green public space, divided into two neighborhood squares. The axial layout of the urban composition and the symmetry of the premise define an urban interior, whose architecture, functional program and overall character promote the creation of a local center.

The multi-pitched roofs of the buildings, reminiscent of habitat development, provide the appropriate scale and character of the urban setting. The buildings in the color of natural brick are reminiscent of the architecture of Gdansk Pomerania, perfectly fitting the new housing development into the local context. The arcades, designed along the public square, foster local public life. For aesthetic and practical reasons, both the arcades and the interiors of the loggias are finished with clinker tiles. The brick color also appears in the development of the public space, harmoniously linking the buildings to their surroundings.

The two neighborhood squares, located along the axis of the estate, are composed of grand greenery pots elevated above the floor level, between which walking paths were provided. In the central part of the northern square, a low pot for water plants was introduced. Conversely, the southern square has a natural sculpture in the form of a rock composition in the middle. Intensive low and medium-high greenery in elevated plots is complemented by tree plantings along all the estate’s traffic routes.

All of the design decisions mentioned above will make the New Habitat housing estate on Baldowska Street in Tczew an attractive center of local life.
